"Safe in Space"

 An educational intervention

Supporting schools and developing young minds for a changing world.

"Safe in Space" is a programmed designed to support schools in their RSHE curriculum. We focus on safeguarding and personal development in the finer  areas of daily life. Our responsibility is to deliver the skills required to make a calculated decisions in the areas of Personal Safety and Protective Behaviours, developing the students Confidence and Ownership of events. We do this through a system designed to educate students on core life skills, because we believe safety shouldn't stop at the school gates.

As a course "Safe in Space" equips the student on the practical tools required for managing conflict in areas that require self motivation. Our interactive workshops promote Resilience, Courage and Ownership for actions taken.  We address decision making and de escalation under pressure and pysiological tools that are scientifically proven to work in such situations. We understand that schools can't do everything, we lean into those areas that require acute focus and specialised care.

The core system concentrates on mitigating potential issues through awareness, both self and situational, the ability to make the correct decisions under pressure in order to administer their dichotomy of control. These specialised practices enable the student to develop into a competant and reliable contributor to society.

Fundamentally, "Safe in Space" is a personal exploration of the students character development.

Learning Outcomes:

1.Self Awareness, Situational awareness, Understanding physiological responses, Boundary setting, Coercion awareness, Confidence building, De -escalation techniques and Personal Safety procedures

Our Evolution

"When a society goes down, or a society perishes, one condition may always be found; they forgot where they came from. They lost sight of what had brought them along".

Carl Sandburg

Over time, humans have developed a set of intrinsic skills to stay alive. These survival tools have shaped who we are today. In the last 30 years technology has slowed down their use and therefore effectiveness of these skills. Our lives are less about adapting to a changing environment, and more about repetitive cycle's. It's a first world condition.  So, our senses have been suppressed to the point where our ability to function under pressure has regressed.  We now live in a distracted society, where devices demand attention and take us away from reality.  Our decisions are based on a "feel good factor" and less on a "survival factor".  Devices, whilst useful can be damaging to the very essence of who we are: decision makers and action takers. Our children are crippled with indecisiveness and attention issues, its not just the food they eat but the environment they keep. The laws of nature are simple "you don't use it: you lose it". Our instincts were born and conditioned in the wild. Even though now we live in suburbia, the threats are still here.

Danger is still here, just in different forms, and by far the biggest danger for our children is the false sense of security that it isn't here. Unfortunately our social pursuit for comfortability is making it easier for children to be taken advantage of.  The fundamental principle of Safe in Space are:" You are responsible for yourself". Accepting control of any situation puts you in a position of power, this is where ownership and character are born.

Our mission at "Safe in Space" is to ignite the senses through practical conditioning. We create an environment that allows students to engage their impulse freely, with real time constructive analysis, encouraging the student to critically think under pressure and interact first hand with the outcome of their decisions. Focusing on self and situational awareness through an interactive experience will encourage competence in assessing real life situations they may face outside the safety of the school environment.
